Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about window tinting, our process, and our warranty.
Most standard vehicles take 1.5 to 3 hours depending on the number of windows and the complexity of the job. We come to you, so you can go about your day at home or at work while we handle everything.
In South Florida's heat, tint typically cures within 3 to 5 days. During this time you may notice small water bubbles or hazy spots — this is completely normal and will clear up on its own. Avoid rolling down your windows during this period.
Regular dyed tint darkens your windows and provides basic UV and heat reduction. SunTek ceramic tint uses nano-ceramic technology that blocks significantly more heat and infrared light without any metal in the film, meaning no interference with your phone, GPS, or keyless entry. Ceramic tint is also more fade resistant and performs better in direct sunlight over time.
Not with the films we use. Our ceramic and carbon window tints are specifically designed to be non metallic, meaning they won't interfere with your phone signal, GPS, Bluetooth, or any other electronics. Cheaper metallic tints can cause interference, but we don't use those.
Yes. Every installation is backed by SunTek's manufacturer warranty on the film. Warranty coverage varies by film type. Reach out and we can walk you through what applies to the tint you choose.
Yes. Technically, any tint on a windshield beyond the AS-1 line is outside Florida's legal limits, but that does not stop most people from doing it. The most common option is a clear or nearly clear ceramic film that blocks heat and UV without changing how your windshield looks at all. Others simply prefer to go darker and are comfortable with that choice. We offer both. Whatever direction you want to go, we will take care of it.

Yes, window tinting is legal in Florida with certain restrictions on how dark you can go on each window. Florida law allows any darkness on rear side windows and the back window, but front side windows must allow more than 28% of light in, and the windshield can only have a non reflective tint strip above the AS-1 line.
In Florida, front side windows must allow more than 28% VLT (Visible Light Transmission). Rear side windows and the rear window can be any darkness. Windshield tint is limited to a non reflective strip above the AS-1 line. We will help you choose the right percentage for your vehicle that balances your preferences with legal requirements.
We come to you. Book your appointment online, pick a time that works, and we show up to your location with everything needed to do the job on the spot. No shop visits, no waiting rooms — just professional tinting wherever you are.
We show up at your home, your workplace, or wherever your vehicle is parked. As long as we have reasonable space to work around the vehicle, we can get it done.
Just make sure your vehicle is parked in a spot where we have access to all sides. A shaded or covered area is a bonus but not required. We handle everything else.

VLT stands for Visible Light Transmission. It's the percentage of light that passes through your tinted window. The lower the number, the darker the tint. A 5% tint lets in very little light (very dark), while a 70% tint is almost clear. VLT is how Florida law measures and enforces tint compliance.
For sedans and coupes: windshield non reflective tint above the AS-1 line only; front side windows must allow at least 28% of light through; rear side windows must allow at least 15%; rear window must allow at least 15%. For SUVs, trucks, and vans: windshield non reflective tint above the AS-1 line only; front side windows must allow at least 28%; rear side windows and rear window have no restriction — any darkness is legal.
70% — Nearly clear. Blocks UV and heat with almost no visible darkening. 50% — Light tint. Subtle shade, great for daily drivers who want UV protection without a dark look. 35% — Medium tint. Popular choice. Noticeably dark from the outside, still easy to see through from inside. 20% — Dark tint. Strong privacy. Legal on rear windows of sedans and all rear windows on SUVs and trucks. 15% — Very dark. At the legal limit for sedan rear windows in Florida. 5% (Limo tint) — Extremely dark. Legal on rear windows of SUVs, trucks, and vans in Florida. Not legal on front windows or sedan rear windows.
The darkest legal tint for front side windows in Florida is 28% VLT on all vehicle types. If you want to go as dark as legally possible on your front windows, we typically recommend a 30% film. After factoring in your factory glass, the combined reading usually lands right around 28%, keeping you legal with a comfortable margin.
Yes. Most automotive glass already blocks 15 to 20% of visible light before any film is applied. Your aftermarket tint VLT combined with the factory glass VLT gives the net VLT, which is what officers measure and what the law regulates. This is why we always test before we install.
Yes. Florida law enforcement can pull you over for a window tint violation as a primary offense. The first offense is a non moving violation with fines around $116. The second offense is classified as a moving violation with higher fines and potential points. Many officers will issue a warning or a fix it citation that gives you 15 to 30 days to remove or replace the non compliant film and show proof of compliance.
Florida law requires a sticker on the inside of the driver's side door jamb to certify that the tint complies with state laws. We take care of this at every installation.
Florida recognizes certain medical conditions that may qualify for a darker tint exemption, including lupus, albinism, porphyria, dermatomyositis, and severe drug photosensitivity, among others. Once approved, you receive a medical exemption certificate that must be kept in the vehicle at all times and presented to law enforcement if questioned.
Yes. Front side windows must not be more than 25% reflective. Back side windows must not be more than 35% reflective. Highly mirrored or metallic tints that exceed these limits are illegal in Florida regardless of how dark they are.
Yes. Any tint film that appears predominantly red, blue, or amber is illegal regardless of VLT percentage. This restriction applies to all windows on all vehicle types and violations can result in immediate citations and mandatory removal.
Yes. SunTek window film blocks a significant amount of harmful UV rays, helping protect your skin and preventing your interior from fading over time. Even lighter shades provide strong UV protection.
Yes, significantly. Window film reduces the amount of infrared heat that enters your vehicle, which is especially important in South Florida. Ceramic tint is the most effective at blocking heat without compromising visibility.
Yes. Old or damaged tint can be professionally removed and replaced. Contact us and we can assess your situation and let you know the best path forward.
Wait at least 3 to 5 days after installation before cleaning. Use a soft cloth or microfiber towel with an ammonia free cleaner. Avoid anything abrasive that could scratch the film.
